讲座简介:While somemight argue that the interaction inherent in computer games constitutes a formof biofeedback, this presentation looks at forms of biofeedback that go beyondthe interaction required to play the game. In particular, I look at what ispossible in the realm of sound when biofeedback loops using technology such asEEG are implemented. The presentation begins by taking a brief look at thehistory of sound in computer games, assessing its role and function, beforetaking a speculative look at what the future might hold were biofeedback tobecome a widespread consumer reality.
主讲人简介:Mark Grimshaw-Aagaard is the Obel Professor of Music at Aalborg University, Denmark.He has published widely across subjects as diverse as sound, biofeedback incomputer games, virtuality, the Uncanny Valley, and IT systems and also writesfree, open source software for virtual research environments (WIKINDX). Mark isseries editor for the Palgrave Macmillan series Studies in Sound, and his booksinclude the anthologies Game Sound Technology & Player Interaction (IGIGlobal 2011) and The Oxford Handbook of Virtuality (Oxford University Press2014), and, with co-author Tom Garner, a monograph entitled Sonic Virtuality(Oxford University Press 2015). A two-volume co-edited anthology, The OxfordHandbook of Sound & Imagination, is due in 2019 from Oxford UniversityPress as is the co-authored The Recording, Mixing, & Mastering ReferenceHandbook.
